Video Marketing for Dummies

My publisher, Wiley, just published “Video Marketing for Dummies.” It’s more aimed at small companies and focuses not just on marketing but production.

What’s the primary difference between an amateur on YouTube and a professional creator? Not the production quality or style, silly. It’s the viewership. As you see below, the most-viewed partners are almost entirely professional. Yet the most-subscribed people are almost all amateurs. It’s a simple point, but important one: Don’t think subscriptions will necessarily lead…
People often ask how I have time to make so many short videos. The truth is, it typically takes about 1-2 hours per edited minute of a video. This depends, of course, on how packaged a video is (and packaging doesn’t always equate with the “viralness” of the piece. This time includes conceiving, scripting, shooting,…
Prank your bro, friends. The folks from College Humor are issuing a prank challenge. Check out the video for details. And don’t forget these are the folks that brought you the amazingly funny basketball half-court prank (check it out if you haven’t seen it).
Some of the most-viewed YouTube “weblebrities” will gather with hundreds of people in the YouTube community, including video creators and viewers, professionals and stalkers. The event — called VidCon 2010 and scheduled for July 9-11 — includes rapid-fire stage performances by some of YouTube’s biggest “stars,” including comedy duo Anthony Pedilla and Ian Hecox (“Smosh“), “What The…
Who is this turd? Joel Bauer? He’s so insecure and arrogant it’s like driving past an accident scene… you can’t help but watch with horror. “He builds crowds… guaranteed.” Yeah, Captain Small Penis. You gather crowds. So does a guy with a severed head in his hand, hanging from the 30th floor of a building….
Do you want YouTube and amateur videos from the comfort of your living room or bed? I’m the only person I know that uses AppleTV to surf YouTube, but the YouTube blog announced a series of distribution partners. I usually think of YouTube as a company that has been fairly slow to introduce new technologies,…

How much of it was copied from your book?
May I please send it to you so you can determine that?
hmmm i wonder if you would get sued if you changed the title of your book…. *wipes smarmite on this comment*
Omg I can’t believe you used the word ‘smarmiest’. I love a man with a big vocabulary.
I think that guy needs some advice from page 356. Bad editing. That video is waaaaay too long.
I bet your farts smell like rainbows and unicorns. Xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo.
I’ll bet unicorns don’t smell nice.
This book is for Dummies. Says so right in the title.
I’m a big fan of Nalts and also a purchaser of his book last year. I also had the opportunity to work with the four co-authors of “Video Marketing for Dummies” on the production of their book. Not only are they quite complementary, but good reads. I’d add these two, plus Steve Garfield’s and Greg Jarboe’s to the video marketer’s book shelf. If you’d like a video overview of the book with a customer example, you can find it at http://www.pixability.com/pixabilitytv#pixtv20.

What kind of marketing / production does it offer?
