Video Marketing for Dummies

My publisher, Wiley, just published “Video Marketing for Dummies.” It’s more aimed at small companies and focuses not just on marketing but production.

LisaLavie1 and other amazingly talented YouTube singers joined together in song in a 2010 version of “We Are the World” for Haiti. Who says community isn’t vibrant in social media’s most visceral form (online video)? The video links to the 2010 remake of Quincy Jones’ version (which has surpassed 11 million views), and to wearetheworldfoundation.org. Credits for…
Thanks for the “get well” post and comments after my fun-packed spinal fusion surgery. Here’s the video I shot to pass on my appreciation (but couldn’t get it to post). I’m back home from the hospital in fairly constant and often intense pain (largely because I can’t take these nasty pain meds). But today’s highlight…
I give you: Marquisdejolie’s “Messing With My Sister.” He describes his factual account of convincing his sister that she’s losing her sight. For more of Marquisdejolie’s insanely funny work, visit and subscribe to his YouTube channel.
Speaking of the perpetual conflict between climbing the splintered ladder as a full-time salaried marketer versus plunging deep into the cool ocean of online video… here’s a note from a (successful) friend who suggests consulting full-time with brands in the online-video space. It’s one of those notes you don’t get every day. I think this is…
She loves cats. She may be faking, or she may be eccentric. But the real question you should ask yourself is… why are we sharing this? It’s like Chris Crocker being dusted off for a revisit. June 12 addition: And here’s Mikeny500’s “I Like Beer,” and my “I Like Doughnuts” with Pipistrello tonight.
When a video freezes it’s called a “rebuff,” and it happens 8% of each video stream. And when it does, 80% of viewers stop watching. How much of it was copied from your book?
May I please send it to you so you can determine that?
hmmm i wonder if you would get sued if you changed the title of your book…. *wipes smarmite on this comment*
Omg I can’t believe you used the word ‘smarmiest’. I love a man with a big vocabulary.
I think that guy needs some advice from page 356. Bad editing. That video is waaaaay too long.
I bet your farts smell like rainbows and unicorns. Xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo.
I’ll bet unicorns don’t smell nice.
This book is for Dummies. Says so right in the title.
I’m a big fan of Nalts and also a purchaser of his book last year. I also had the opportunity to work with the four co-authors of “Video Marketing for Dummies” on the production of their book. Not only are they quite complementary, but good reads. I’d add these two, plus Steve Garfield’s and Greg Jarboe’s to the video marketer’s book shelf. If you’d like a video overview of the book with a customer example, you can find it at http://www.pixability.com/pixabilitytv#pixtv20.
