Boring People Suck

Boring people suck. I’m going to put that on a t-shirt to prove I thought of it.

If you don’t provide a funny comment below than you’re boring and you suck. Mind you that it would be better to try to be funny and fail than not to try again. I came up with that one too.

It’s best to stay away from anything about the cat. She’s just there for the amateurs, and we both know you’re better than that.

Before this blog post is over I’m going to provide more original thoughts and quips than Yogi Bear.

YouTube Captions Underwhelms

In one of its most underwhelming functionality changes in the past decade, YouTube now offers captions.

Qui donne une merde?

You’ll need to look for it by clicking the arrow button and selecting “captions” but it probably won’t exist in your language. That’s because the creator has to use special software and can only translate one language per video. I suppose a summer intern had a little too much free time.

Let’s vote on some additional unecessary YouTube functionality improvements that can join this and the “thumb-up-a-comment” tool:

  1. B&W converter: The ability to turn a video black and white by altering the URL slightly.
  2. Auto inverse technology: flip your video horizontally and make KevJumba say Abmujvek.
  3. Fred shuttle: make your video play 25% faster so everyone sounds like Fred.
  4. Jiggle the JPEG: for those partner banners that don’t rotate as an annoying GIF file, this tool can take an ordinary flat banner and make it wiggle.
  5. Auto off: The video will automatically stop playing when it reaches the creator’s average viewed duration point. All MrSafety videos will stop after 11 seconds.
  6. Unrelated videos: selects videos that are not related to the one you’re viewing.
  7. What’s your vote?

100 Boring Videos (call for montage)

Are you really, really bored? No- I mean SUPAH FREAKY bored? Okay then here’s a challenge. Make a montage out of these nearly 100 video replies to my “bore me” challenge (where more than a year ago I invited people to make 30-second videos that reach into their inner bore).

I’ll feature your montage here on the blog and my youtube channel page. It might be funny to select a handful of the best and return to them a few times as you rotate through the rest.

Here’s the collection. Get rippin’ and editing!

I had forgotten about this contest until Chris sent me this YouTube Poop version of my video (youtube poop is when someone mixes up your video to make it even stupider).

Watching Chris’ video made me realize why Starbucks people don’t understand me. My wife sometimes wants half caffeinated and sometimes defaffeinated, and the words started to blend together. So when I say “half caf decaf” I mean “half caffeinated and half decaffeinated, or “50% caffeinated.” Now I realize they’re hearing a contradiction (I want half caffeinated… no, I want defecaffeinated) and they’re seeking clarity. As they pursue clarity about the caffeine I’m too busy thinking about whether I’ve translated the size correctly (Tall/Venti) and trying to remember how many pumps of vanilla and what the french term for hot milk is (latte).

Two years of anxiety ordering my wife’s Starbucks, and now I find out why the whole thing breaks down.

Study Shows People Who Don’t Watch Online Videos Are… Boring

zipster loco mama terryA recent study shows that the shrinking percent of US citizens that don’t watch online-video regularly are more likely (by 45%) to be boring than their video-watching counterparts. This study, mind you, is based not on a significant N or any official methodology. It’s just based on my own experience.

For example, here’s a result of last evening with Zipster08 and ChristopherMast. It’s a video called “Loco Mama and the Boys from the Hood.” Call them crazy, but don’t call them boring.

Incidentally, Mast (an Indie singer and nurse) is “couch surfing” with the Nalts family this week, and documenting every waking moment. Again- call it what you will, but it’s not boring.

And, all things being equal, life is more interesting when it’s not boring.
