Video Sponsorship Trends: “Cashing In” or “Selling Out”
I like this “Viral Video: Cashing In or Selling Out” by Jennifer Hollett (Canadian Globe & Mail), and not just because I’m featured in it. It’s actually a well-balanced view of the issues surrounding paid sponsorship and product placement. As you may know, there are two different ways to make money via online video. You…
Televisions Obsolete. Online Video Takes Over.
No I’m just kidding. Television isn’t dead yet (but I’ll let you know when it is). You didn’t waste money on that high definition set, and you advertising executives still have a little shelf life. But here’s a new tidbit of research that verifies that online-video consumption is eating into our television viewing time. Courtesy…
YouTube is Hot, But Watch Out for Over the Top
Welcome WVFF Guest Blogger Jim Louderback Sure, you think the TV is dead. But it’s not. The act of lazing about in front of a big screen TV watching, laughing and enjoying video content is going to be even bigger than ever. But here’s the rub. It’ll be less about cable and broadcast, and much…
Teleporting Fat Guy Returns
How many views does it take for a video to be defined as going “viral”? It’s not 1 million, and it’s not 2 million… read on. I’m a big fan of Smosh’s Teleporting Fat Guy (see original video seen more than 4 million times). So I was thrilled to see the adorable chubby guy return…
Bianca Ryan to Donate $1 Million to Local Starving Artists
Philadelphia-area Singer Bianca Ryan is the latest 11-year-old millionaire thanks to the insuferably awkward America’s Got Talent. Here’s a video of her performance on June 28, 2006. As a starving artist that also lives near Philadelphia, I’m pleased that she’s giving her entire winning to local artists. She’s actually not, but I figured if I…
TCBY Franchise Video Contest: BtoB or BtoC
I was reading the POV of a franchise trade blog on a TCBY “This Could Be Yours” video contest in which we’re a finalist. The contest, unlike many I’ve entered, is not about producing a compelling video to persuade consumers. It’s designed to prove to TCBY that you’re worthy of winning… a TCBY franchise (valued…

Man. I’m a Mac user and I found that rather offensive. Geez. Leave Bill alone with the Apple/Linux vs Microsoft. It’s old and tired already.
You could have done so much more with this opportunity. How about maybe asking him about his foundation and how he’s looking to help children around the world.
Pretty sad state of affairs when you use a kid to say “I like Linux” to Bill Gates.
Sue him? SUE him? Bill Gates could have him eaten…with wasabe.
But Nalts is not afraid.
I’m not entirely stupid. I had my 4-year-old grab his wallet before he left. Helloooooo amazon.com.
Bill Gates impersonators are a dime a dozen. Only Elvis has more. This guy could maybe pass for a 30ish Bill Gates, but he’s definitely not the almost 50ish version we see today. Nice try, nonetheless.
Do you honestly think I have budget for a real Bill Gates impersonator? This guy just happened to look like him and he obliged to this video. Interestingly enough, he’s in the software business and visits Microsoft. They often think he’s an impersonator.
I didn’t realize how young he looked relative to Gates until I found some recent photo of the Microsoft founder. Maybe I should have put some makeup on this guy.
