Make Your OWN YouTube “Life in a Day”
Sure you’re not thrilled that your clip wasn’t selected for the “YouTube Life in a Day” film by Ridley Scott. Who wouldn’t be offended? I was even though I helped promote the “call for clips” with this video seen by a quarter of a million peeps. I mean, common. My neighborhood was burglarized that very day…
90 Cams Capture Lit Cigarette Causing NYU Dorm Fire
In imagining future “always broadcasting” scenarios, I could have not conceived such a hysterical one. The Onion (have I mentioned it’s the best written comedy evah?) reports on police changing the cause ruling of a NYU dorm fire… “after examining the evidence from 25 iPhones, 15 blackberries, 10 video cameras and 40 digital cameras obtained…
A Deep, Inside Look at YouTube, Creators & Advertising
Last week I wrote a post where I interviewed Al, the algorithm behind YouTube. I received a lengthy comment from someone identifying him/herself as 1000Lurkers (e-mail was not real). It’s clearly written based on some fairly intense observation, and I believe some “inside” knowledge of YouTube’s relationship with Partners and advertisers. I’m not suggesting it’s all accurate,…
Showtime’s Babass Homeland Premiere
Hats off to Showtime, which not only secured a full takeover ad on YouTube to debut “Homeland,” but ran the first episode free on YouTube. No ads, no punitive actions ala Hulu if you fast forward or rewind. That’s just badass, and an amazing marketing strategy. GIVE AWAY your pilot, friends. And you get free…
“Must Read” Blogs & Websites on Online Video
In a recent WillVideoForFood Forum post, I invited people to submit their “must read” blogs and websites on the subject of online video. As you can imagine, it’s very difficult to find these on Google. Here’s an initial list, and I’m going to be making a video featuring the best sources. So please let me…

Man. I’m a Mac user and I found that rather offensive. Geez. Leave Bill alone with the Apple/Linux vs Microsoft. It’s old and tired already.
You could have done so much more with this opportunity. How about maybe asking him about his foundation and how he’s looking to help children around the world.
Pretty sad state of affairs when you use a kid to say “I like Linux” to Bill Gates.
Sue him? SUE him? Bill Gates could have him eaten…with wasabe.
But Nalts is not afraid.
I’m not entirely stupid. I had my 4-year-old grab his wallet before he left. Helloooooo amazon.com.
Bill Gates impersonators are a dime a dozen. Only Elvis has more. This guy could maybe pass for a 30ish Bill Gates, but he’s definitely not the almost 50ish version we see today. Nice try, nonetheless.
Do you honestly think I have budget for a real Bill Gates impersonator? This guy just happened to look like him and he obliged to this video. Interestingly enough, he’s in the software business and visits Microsoft. They often think he’s an impersonator.
I didn’t realize how young he looked relative to Gates until I found some recent photo of the Microsoft founder. Maybe I should have put some makeup on this guy.
