“Lay Me Off” Video is “Laying Low”
One of the great things about online video is that, for the most part, you can make a video go away. Recently I created a video called “Lay Me Off.” It featured me eating crayons, tossing wet kleenex and wearing a robe to meetings. I’m squishing bananas on my boss’s desk, pushing a guy’s tie…
Why Nobody Clicks Ads
Thanks Jan for sending over this article titles, “Do You Know Why Nobody Is Clicking Your Ads.” http://www.mequoda.com/articles/web-advertising/do-you-know-why-users-arent-clicking-on-your-ads It’s true that ad units generally decrease on interaction rates as people get used to them. The article cites a .09 percent click thru rate, but I’d say that’s being quite generous. It’s also worth noting that…
Putting the Kul Back in Ukulele
As you know, my family and I became instantly obsessed with this “Guacamole Ukulele” song (per this post last week when I discovered it). Jaharp1992, the creator of the Nalts ukulele intro song, helped prime this fascination. Turns out, the performers are Lauren and Lena, who were on a Wizard Rock tour performing as Accio…
First Poke
Growing up in a family of 7 (5 kids) I learned two things. Eat popcorn very quickly or there will be none left for you. When a new carton of ice-cream is opened, you have to move fast to be the first poke. The 2007 version of the ice-cream “first poke” is the strange pride…
Solutions to “Free” vs “Paid” Debate About Online Video
Our friends at ReelSEO revealed the Pew data showing viewer’s surprising willingness to pay for online-video content. Until recently, I’ve been nervous about the notion of any subscription or pay-per-view model because it’s likely a “deal killer” for most viewers watching amateur creators. Sure I’ll pay to license/buy The Guild or Dr. Horrible, but less so for…
Jewish A Cappella Parody of Dynamite (Candlelight)
Hannukah may be over, but you can still groove to this hip hop a cappella parody, with lyrics about playing dradel by the candlelight, and the great menorah. It’s the Jewish version of Dynamite (by Taio Cruz). No it’s not the Dalton Academy Choir performing, but the Maccabeats, an a cappella group from Yashiva University.

Man. I’m a Mac user and I found that rather offensive. Geez. Leave Bill alone with the Apple/Linux vs Microsoft. It’s old and tired already.
You could have done so much more with this opportunity. How about maybe asking him about his foundation and how he’s looking to help children around the world.
Pretty sad state of affairs when you use a kid to say “I like Linux” to Bill Gates.
Sue him? SUE him? Bill Gates could have him eaten…with wasabe.
But Nalts is not afraid.
I’m not entirely stupid. I had my 4-year-old grab his wallet before he left. Helloooooo amazon.com.
Bill Gates impersonators are a dime a dozen. Only Elvis has more. This guy could maybe pass for a 30ish Bill Gates, but he’s definitely not the almost 50ish version we see today. Nice try, nonetheless.
Do you honestly think I have budget for a real Bill Gates impersonator? This guy just happened to look like him and he obliged to this video. Interestingly enough, he’s in the software business and visits Microsoft. They often think he’s an impersonator.
I didn’t realize how young he looked relative to Gates until I found some recent photo of the Microsoft founder. Maybe I should have put some makeup on this guy.
