Don’t Neglect That Audio Track, Amateurs

Shame on us. We’ve been so focused on the video and music, we forgot about the sound effects. Did you know:

  • Animals are never ever silent- dogs whine/bark/yip, cats meow or purr, cows moo, even in cases where most animals wouldn’t be making a sound.
  • All bicycles have bells (that sounds). Car tires “always” screech on dirt roads.
  • Text being spelled out on screen (whether computer or lower third) MUST make some sort of typing and/or dot-matrix-printer type of sound.
  • When a character pulls out a knife, even from his pants, you hear a sound of metal brushing metal

  1. Wait… are you saying we SHOULD do that, or that we’re being dumb if we do that? I couldn’t tell. This is timely to me, as I spent the earlier part of the morning filming myself brushing my teeth and the like, without sound. I was thinking, maybe I should make my own sound effects.

Should I be cliche or no?
