  1. This is the first I’ve seen this. Have lots of people been putting in your name and sending it to you? That’d be pretty stupid. Who’d vote for Nalts? I don’t even know your positions on the issues.

  2. I’ll vote for whoever, it’s like saying None Of The Above –

You all know that if there are more votes for Third Parties and Write Ins than the two parties currently in power (and destroying the country) it becomes a vote of No Confidence.

You don’t HAVE to vote for crooks, its one of the beauties of a Republic.

  3. jischinger:
Just remember what Nader did to the 2000 election. And since then, we’ve had 8 years of a tanking economy, an unjustified war, and astronomical gas and food prices. Having said that, I’m not sure Obama is the answer, but electing McCain would be like getting W’s third term, and we can not afford that.

  4. I would agree with marilyn about nader but I don’t really want to go there with jan.

I just sent this to my aunt. We’ll see if she thinks it’s funny.

  5. I had a strangely visceral experience when I first got this email.

Well finally! They see the wisdom in what I’ve been saying! Then it dawned on me… I’ve been a YouTuber for over a year now. My political aspirations are toast.

  6. I may lose here, but it has to be said – Blaming Nader is a big fat lie and considering there have been so many told by both parties it’s astonishing anyone believes anything either one says.

Gore lost because Gore and his supporters didn’t work hard enough and in the end they turned tail and gave up, AND because 100 million voters in the US didn’t bother to vote, because Gore didn’t win his own home state, nor Clintons, because the democrats in Florida came up with the stupid butterfly ballot confusing their own voters, because the Florida Circuit Court ruled that the deadline was mandatory, BUT that the counties could amend their returns at a later date and because the SCOTUS said no they couldn’t, because when all was said and done and every last chad was counted, according the Miami Herald, Gore won, but Gore and his supporters did nothing to protest.

What irks me most about the third party debate is that it demonstrates in your face bigotry with absolutely no regard for the only real sacred thing that belongs to no one, but the individual in this country, their vote.

This is supposed to be a democratic republic, not a duopoly. IMO if you want a dictatorship keep voting for the two parties, and well it may be your right to do so, know this one thing that has always been and will always be true, when you vote for the lesser of two evils you will always have evil and always get less.

If you don’t turn on to politics, politics will turn on you. We saw it when the democrats took impeachment off the table in 2007 and just last week when the democrats, including Obama, gave Bush more than he expected in the Telecom Immunity Bill that destroyed the 4th Amendment.

And it’s not over yet, just wait until next week. Both parties are bought and sold, voting democrat or republican only encourages them to continue abusing and diminishing what few right you have left.

    peace

  7. Reubnick you’d do a far better job than most of the clowns running, but you have to be at least 35 to run, can you get a fake ID?

    sukatra are you seeing stars?

Slater, no, go back to sleep 😉

JimmerSD I have a red cape and a pair of blue tights with the letter S on it for you.

  8. Ok, jischinger, I do agree with you in part. However, I DO blame Nader because he knew he had no chance in hell of winning and he drew votes away from Gore. I have nothing against the democratic system, and agree that 3rd party candidates should be encouraged to participate in the system. But our electoral system is antiquated and doesn’t really work right.

I also agree with you on all your Florida comments. If Jeb Bush wasn’t the governor, maybe things would have turned out differently.

Also, everyone who is eligible to vote should vote. It is a sad comment on our society when more people vote for American Idol than for president.

Finally, I think the electoral college should be abolished, and we should elect our president by popular vote. Let’s see if that produces any lead balloons.

  9. Dude. You act like you meticulously go through your inbox and SEE these videos even being sent you.

    I’m calling your bluff.

    BULLSHIT.

And don’t EVER EVER EVER EVERRRRRR….use the terms tea bag or hot pocket again. Ever.

  10. Okay Jischinger. Can you recommend a viable 3 or 4th party candidate? I agree the bums need to be tossed. But as soon as any change candidate gets to Washington it’s the same old crap. There’s got to be something in the water up there.

No matter what anyone says the last thing they really want is change and there lies the rub. They may prance around espousing the merits of changing the system but when the reality sinks in they realize that someone’s sacred cow must be gored.

Will it be yours or mine? Do you have kids? Are you willing to give up any tax breaks you get for those kids? How about the drainage problem with the road that passes your home. You know it’s gonna take federal tax dollars to deal with that. Faustian deals continue to be made every day on the back of ‘keeping the government running’.

They are gutting the Constitution and the bad part is that the average American can’t or won’t take the time to understand who ‘We the People’ really are. They think it is them. They would be wrong. The People are the same folks who are named in legal proceedings like “The People vs. …”

There you’ve gone and made me talk politics on Nalt’s board. This is supposed to be a fun board…..(fingers in ears blah blah blah blah)

  11. “Ok, jischinger, I do agree with you in part. However, I DO blame Nader because he knew he had no chance in hell of winning and he drew votes away from Gore.”

“I have nothing against the democratic system”

Of course you do, your previous statement confirms that.

You assume that had Nader not run his voters would have defaulted to Gore. How can you possibly prove that?

Further, a good number of Nader’s third party votes came from Republicans. Would you have pulled those along with the votes for Pat Buchanan and handed them to Bush?

You are also making a very anti-democratic statement and treating third party voters as either second class citizens or just plain stupid for not voting Gore. That’s completely un-democratic and borders on cronyism. Have you forgotten the doors the Clinton Gore Administration closed when it came to the protection of public lands, the public airwaves, the environment, No Net Welfare Reform, NAFTA with no protections? Big Banks and Big Business controlled that Administration and those same people are climbing into Obama’s pockets right now.

“and agree that 3rd party candidates should be encouraged to participate in the system. But our electoral system is antiquated and doesn’t really work right.”

The only reason it doesn’t work is because of the two party Duopoly. Here’s the Democratic Party for you: the DNC in Texas sued to keep Ohio Democrat Rep. Dennis Kucinich off the ballot in the 2008 Primary. Your donations to the Democrat Party are used to sue third parties and their own members to keep them off the ballot left and right to maintain power. Why would any lover of democracy, not to mention anyone in their right mind, support such an organization? When do the people who support this anti-democratic party stop rolling over and pandering to these scoundrels?

“I also agree with you on all your Florida comments. If Jeb Bush wasn’t the governor, maybe things would have turned out differently.”

It wasn’t Jeb Bush, it was his lover Kathleen Harris, the horrible organization of the Democratic Party in Florida, and finally the SCOTUS; An unprecedented and anti-democratic decision. However, had Gore won Tennessee and Arkansas; his and Clinton’s home states, Florida wouldn’t have even been an issue.

The above demonstrates again that blaming Nader is a specious argument. The blame is not only misdirected, it’s anti-democratic and bigoted.

“Also, everyone who is eligible to vote should vote. It is a sad comment on our society when more people vote for American Idol than for president.”

So you blame Nader and his voters, who took their civic duty seriously, when the burden of responsibility actually rests on the shoulders of 100k Americans who didn’t even bother to participate?

    Sorry, I don’t get it.

“Finally, I think the electoral college should be abolished, and we should elect our president by popular vote.”

That’s interesting, Ralph Nader feels the same way, but you won’t see the Democrats or Republicans promoting that idea, not in any serious way. They’ve managed to gerrymander the system so they can’t lose in all but a few districts in the US. The only true, honest and pro-democratic candidates right now are Ralph Nader and Bob Barr.

As long as people keep voting for the Democrat and Republican Duopoly the more corrupt they will become and the more rights you will lose, that is the nature of power. Further, these two parties are corporatizing our Government; Halliburton, Blackwater, Bechtel, CACI, AT&T, etc.. it’s painfully obvious, isn’t it?

    “One has to start somewhere.”

Yes, Nader, Barr and write-ins for Ron Paul won’t elect a third party candidate, but the only message you have left as a voter is to threaten these two parties with your not-voting-for-them, voting third is a vote of no confidence. This worked for the likes of Gandhi, MLK and those crazy hippies in the 60’s. Hold this Duopoly’s feet to the fire and declare that your vote means something, this actually works, history will back me up.

Successful Third Party Issues: End To Slavery, End To Child Labor, The Women’s Vote, FDR’s New Deal, LBJ’s Great Society.

As long as people keep voting for these corrupt two parties the status quo will remain, in fact it will only get worse. Yes, we have to start somewhere.

“Let’s see if that produces any lead balloons.”

  12. Sorry, jischinger, I didn’t mean to get you so riled up! All I am really trying to say is that anyone who wants to run for any office who is qualified should run, certainly. But if in so doing, a person is elected to power who starts an unjustified and illegal war, who tries to gut the Constitution, who has caused his country’s economy to tank, I think there is enough blame to go around.

All of the third party successes you mentioned occurred more than 40 years ago; I think that so much has changed over the past 40 years that we will never see such successes again anytime soon.

I also don’t see the two-party system changing anytime soon, so we might as well work with what we have and try to get it to work right. I would love to see other VIABLE candidates running for president. I don’t really feel like I have a real choice with the candidates we have; Obama is not the person I would probably choose for my ideal candidate, but he’s a far cry better than McBush.

Ok, now stop yelling at me and turning Nalts’ blog into a political forum.

  13. “Okay Jischinger. Can you recommend a viable 3 or 4th party candidate? I agree the bums need to be tossed. But as soon as any change candidate gets to Washington it’s the same old crap. There’s got to be something in the water up there.”

It’s affecting their precious bodily fluids, got to be the fluoride.

“No matter what anyone says the last thing they really want is change and there lies the rub… Faustian deals continue to be made every day on the back of ‘keeping the government running’..” “They are gutting the Constitution and the bad part is that the average American can’t or won’t take the time to understand who ‘We the People’ really are. They think it is them. They would be wrong. The People are the same folks who are named in legal proceedings like “The People vs. …”

Actually you’re correct, you are the people. What do you want?

I think I made a number of my opinions clear in my reply to Marilyn, but I will emphasize the same old story, find out about the candidates, good and bad, You Tube is full of political opinions and a lot of interested “gochaya!” The more you know the more confident you’ll feel about who you’re voting for and why.

On my blog, that no one here ever visits (except sukatra to fart), under politics, are some helpful links: opensource, opensecrets, mediamatters, therealnews, peoplesvoice, truthometer. Vet the candidates out, comment on you tube political videos and people will take you all sorts of places, but it’s your decision, your vote, your responsibility as a citizen to get informed. I can only argue my position and say how I got there [click a fav] and why I’m always right 😉

“There you’ve gone and made me talk politics on Nalt’s board. This is supposed to be a fun board…

    Politics is fun!

  14. “Sorry, jischinger, I didn’t mean to get you so riled up!”

Not at all, politics is fun!

“All I am really trying to say is that anyone who wants to run for any office who is qualified should run, certainly. Maybe you have the power of foresight, how would anyone know what Bush was about to do during the 2000 campaign? No one knew he was Opposite Man. How do you know if Gore had taken the Oath he wouldn’t have done worse? Based on the Clinton Gore policies we could all be in FEMA camps by now.

The blame belongs to no on, but the American people.
    [click – great series]

“All of the third party successes you mentioned occurred more than 40 years ago; “

    The methods are still valid.

“I think that so much has changed over the past 40 years that we will never see such successes again anytime soon.”

    Only if YOU say so.

“I also don’t see the two-party system changing anytime soon, so we might as well work with what we have and try to get it to work right.”

Took WWII for Europe to wake-up. The US is only 232 years old. VIGILANCE is a bitch! We’ve seen nothing yet. Sure, the costumes are different and we have indoor plumbing, but power is power and needs to be checked. All humans still require shelter, food, clothes and hugs everyday.

“I would love to see other VIABLE candidates running for president. I don’t really feel like I have a real choice with the candidates we have;“

    Only if YOU say so.

“Obama is not the person I would probably choose for my ideal candidate, but he’s a far cry better than McBush.”

If YOU say so, but I think you’re underestimating the power you have along with millions of other people. Real Change has to start somewhere, what are you waiting for?

“Ok, now stop yelling at me and turning Nalts’ blog into a political forum.”

I’m not yelling at you, it’s an educational debate. Plus, I wouldn’t have brought it up, but the video featured was political in nature and Kevin made threats of tea bagging the readers, something had to be said! Besides, from a marketing POV it shows diversity 😉

  15. “It’s affecting their precious bodily fluids, got to be the fluoride”

Very Gen. ‘Buck’ Turgidson like. Scary

“…, you are the people. What do you want?”

Here I disagree with you. We haven’t been “The People” for a long time. Just ask why you are being detained and you will soon find out who “The People” are. “The People” are the bureaucracy. The bureaucracy will exist beyond any government. To the common folk the bureaucracy is the government and it is not them. Just because you get a vote does not mean you get a say.

Here vote for this person or that.

    Am I cynical? You bet.

  16. “Here I disagree with you. We haven’t been “The People” for a long time…”

No one said it wouldn’t be painful, but…

“BTW I intend to use my vote as a protest vote. I don’t like either of the bastards.”

    it’s a start!

With the melt down of the banks, as joblessness rises and you’re hard working pensions disappear, maybe people will take to the streets. Need to get squeaky, need to make some noise, need to get French!

  17. OMG! I wish everyone was this vocal. It wouldn’t be near as boring watching the news because the media wouldn’t know which side of the fence to get on. The fence would be ripped down and trampled by all the different opinions and views.

Now wouldn’t that be fun, FOX would be wondering is the Republican Party still the one back, or should we throw in with the Independent thinkers?

CNN, CBS, NBC, and all the rest of the liberal news stations would probably just go along with being on the side of the Democrats because they are a bunch of spineless morons.

Nalts…you should jump in on these conversations and stir up the shit pile. I don’t think it is stinky enough yet! HAHAHA

  18. XLr8nIT – d00d you own the airwaves!
I think Kevin’s too diplomatic for shit stirring, but that’s there’s a dare on the bubblegum tree if he wants 😉

sukatra – ok, that’s it! I’m blaming you for the state of the union and darlin’ use the bathroom, not my front yard!

  19. Marilyn said. Then jischinger said. Then I said. Then then the Marquis said. Then Jischinger said and said and said and said. That’s about it!

  20. The Republicans here in Florida didn’t have any problems voting. It was the uneducated, illiterate Democrates that screwed up everything.

  21. I’m the sure the Republicans will find some way of hijacking this idea and $elling it as their own idea! Crooks & liars!
