When a 2-Minute Ad is Too Short (Ellen Degeneres and Animals in Amex ad)
I wanted this 2-minute ad to be 5-minutes. Ellen Degeneres stars in this Amex ad featuring animals as her colleagues. It’s better than most content. Absolutely nothing about Amex until the end. But it ties right back to the integrated campaign and it’s as viral as they come.
If you’re trying to make yourself sick when you’re clean try ammonia and bleach. If you’re trying to make a great viral video, combine a brilliant comedian and cute animals.
I hereby forgive Amex for the recent $500 of late fees I paid for a year’s worth of late expense report reconciliations. And I resolve to not just watch my TiVo’d Ellen shows but buy some of her old comedy bits.
With the A list entering the viral video space, is there still hope for those of us with niche audiences and C list talent? Hope so.
Ditto on the 5 minutes, but only if it was just as funny as the 2 minutes we see.
But I’m still glad I don’t have an Amex card.
I like Wes Anderson’s American Express commercial.
I looooooved this commercial! “There’s no need to be sarcastic, Roger.” Good stuff…
This is the best commercial I have ever seen.
