No Need for Agencies Anymore
There’s the “Ad Generator.” Courtesy of WelcometoWallyWorld, this site generates ads automatically. Click here to go directly to the generator.
The ad generator, says the site, is a generative artwork that explores how advertising uses and manipulates language. Words and semantic structures from real corporate slogans are remixed and randomized to generate invented slogans. These slogans are then paired with related images from Flickr, thereby generating fake advertisements on the fly.
The ad generator was created by Alexis Lloyd as a component of an MFA thesis project in the Design and Technology department at Parsons The New School for Design.
Image: My favorite ad of the 25 I viewed.
Interesting post – was it just me or did some of the words cut off? Nevertheless, I can see viewing these for at least some inspiration. 🙂
Some of the words did cut off.
It was playing up but they appear to have fixed it now. The story’s been on Digg and a few other heavyweight blogs so I guess they had a lot of traffic. I could watch it for hours. Reminds me of the movie Crazy People (Dudley Moore) – “Volvos – they’re boxy but they’re good”.
Give that man a raise!
Better work than my first year ad students? I’ll let you know as soon as the semester starts…
