Hire Nalts
Most brands are looking for appropriate ways to engage consumer via online video, but many embark upon costly, embarrassing or futile projects. Meanwhile there’s no shortage of amateur video creators who are brimming with talent, have knowledge of the online video community, and often have established “subscribers” and audiences. Some are in it for the fun, but others welcome the opportunity to create sponsored, entertaining videos for additional income.
I’m Kevin Nalts, a former Johnson & Johnson marketer and by day a Consumer Marketing Director at a Fortune 100 firm. By night I’m “Nalts,” one of the most-viewed YouTube comedians with nearly 600 videos, garnering more than 25 million views. I’m not the most strategic marketer in the world nor the greatest video creator. But I do understand how online-video entertainment and marketing can converge appropriately, and I’ve never found something so professionally invigorating as this rapidly expanding viral-video space. It’s changing the way we interact with each other, and smart brands are leveraging this visceral medium to engage with consumers like never before possible. For me, my hobby and profession have wonderfully collided via online video. Man that sounds nerdy.
This blog provides education about online video, and how marketers and creators can partner to produce entertaining promotional videos. I’m currently employed full-time, but I occasionally speak, write and consult with brands (although not related to healthcare marketing, since that’s my day job).

- Custom promotional videos. For $3K-$10K, I makes custom promotional videos (which can
appear on my frequently-viewed YouTube channel and 11 other online video site). Sponsored videos are always identified as such. I speak with brands to understand the marketing goal (branding, direct response, PR, lead generation, engaging with customers, etc.). Then I produce a “creative brief,” and a series of creative concepts that strike a balance between entertainment (to ensure broad distribution) and subtle but effective promotion. Sometimes I connect the brand or agency to other creators. If I produce the video, I produce several rounds of revisions with a typical turnaround of is 4-6 weeks. - Public speaking. I speak at numerous conferences and corporate marketing events, and can address online video, consumer-generated media, viral video and online marketing. To avoid conflicts with the day job I cannot speak about healthcare marketing or be identified by my employer’s name. I’ve spoken at AdTech, DIY Film Festival, and iMediaConnections, and corporate events at such companies as Intercontinental Group, Spunlogic, and Cox Communications. As a former KPMG Consulting employee and interactive agency guy, I know how to inform and entertain, but you’ll have to yank me off the stage.

Nalts, you have a gift and you use it well. Laughter goes hand in hand with Joy. The ability you have to whip these videos out of your mind, displays your true heart! Strangely enough Me and a good friend did this at a tourist attraction in the UK called Blackpool, but we used the ball that you put the powder in that you put in the washing machine on our bellies to make fart noises.
