Online Video “Gold Rush”

Daisy Whitney says online video is seeing "gold rush"
New Media Minute’s Daisy Whitney says there’s a “gold rush going on in online video,” and points to some efforts of technology providers to meet growing needs. Time for a little roundup of recent news…

Whitney sites eMarketer’s report that online video is set to grow 40% to 3.1 billion.

Comscore reports that average online user watched 22.6 hours of online video (40 billion vids) in January, up from 14 hours a year ago.

eMarketer reports, however, that video remains in third place to search and banner advertising (see chart).
Streaming Media attributes growth to devices like web-connected phones, tablets and web-connected TVs.
The Digital Content “new fronts” will no doubt stir up more interest in the medium, and the top online-video sites will have presence in the April 19-May 2 events.

Where are marketers spending online dollars between now and 2016?
