@19 You may be right about quality. Certainly you'll see that my sponsored stuff is a bit more carefully shot and edited because I don't want them to think I didn't spend time on it.

just wanted to represent the quiet majority of folks who graze WVFF and say "thanks" for this one. It's a fascinating idea and I'll be awake all night mulling over the possible implications for us.

not being one to leave well-enough alone, I'll take a stab at the one point where I completely disagree with you (from other posts)...video quality. I bet that these kind of deals will push content creator to put out better quality.

Kevin:
I actually read the whole post, and did not nod off once. However, the thing that really struck me about this post was that you used "c)" twice in your penultimate paragraph.

So is there a Mendoza line -- a certain number of views or subscribers -- that separates a "star" from someone who's merely a "YouTube enthusiast?" A thousand subs? 5000?

For guys like me, with not even 300 subscribers, making any money with a place like HitViews probably ain't bloody likely.

However, I'd be MUCH more interested in brainstorming ideas about the concept of a YouTube channel that features several DIFFERENT types of programming from a bunch of different writers/creators... People who may be immensely talented, but not yet widely popular.

By the way, if anyone's of a mind, tomorrow's my birthday, and if you can't think of anything to get me, a view and a 5-star rating on the attached Cisco contest always makes a lovely gift. (link)
