How to Buy Advertisement on YouTube August 3, 2008

Posted by Nalts in : YouTube, advertising , trackback

It took me quite a bit of research via Adwords (advertisers buying ads) and Adsense (publisher tool to make money) to discover how to buy ads on YouTube. If you want to place an “Invideo” ad (one that sneaks up along the bottom) or other ads, you’ll need a lot of money.

According to Google’s Adwords help, Direct YouTube advertising contracts for US advertisers targeting the US require the following cost commitments. You’ll need to contact an advertising representative, and can learn more on this site on YouTube.

But what if you ant to advertise on YouTube for less?
Fear not! (And select “more” below for details)

Have you looked into AdSense Video Units? I added a few to my site featuring the videos of my favorite vloggers. So far they’ve gotten 1,637 Page impressions with 274 Clicks for $95.26 in Earnings.

You’d have to sure sell a whole lot of mugs for this to pay off! In the 60’s the buzzword was “PLASTICS” (The Graduate) today Dustin’s lines would have read.. “Viral Videos”, eh?

Sorry. I’m still too traumatized from watching marquis’ video to leave a coherent comment here.

One of the companies I work with wanted to do a Youtube advertising package. They wanted a custom page a la Scientology (their channel) mostly, and we already had contracts with Google so we thought it would be easy and we’d get a deal.

It took over 3 weeks just to get a PHONE CONFERENCE with them… even our friends at Google said that the people at Youtube are hard to get in touch with. We even sent a guy to the Google headquarters beforehand (we’ve flown there for meetings before) and nobody at Youtube had time to meet with him!

All they did is send printed versions of all their PDFs that you can get on the site.

My boss was so frustrated that she backed out of the idea. They probably lost a half a mil or more in that deal. But yeah, when I saw those numbers I nearly fell over… makes me wonder how much a Myspace front page takeover costs…

And am I the first to notice the tiny smily face at the bottom of the page?

AdCents Units are making me some coin, too. But what about the cheese videos?

8. Marilyn - August 3, 2008

What do you mean, what about the cheese videos? I’m confused.

Hello Mr. Nalty

There is an interesting article in today’s New York Times Sunday Magazine. It is entitled “Malwebolence-Inside the world of online trolls who use the Internet to harass, humiliate and torment strangers.”

I know you’re all into visualizing positivity and attracting abundance in your life right now, but you still might want to check this out. It’s kinda interesting. It’s available online.

Oh, and if you want more of that “manifesting what you think about” stuff, you might want to check out the works of Dr. Wayne Dyer. He has a website.

I dislike industry-oriented blog entries like this one, that go right over my head. Can’t we talk about bodily secretions and that sort of thing?

My son got married yesterday and all I got was this stupid t-shirt.

What!? The cheese has jumped the shark ALREADY!?

13. NutCheese - August 4, 2008

I am back to my regular pooping schedule. I know you are all happy for me.

Too many words… too few pictures.

Hey Marilyn… you missed a spelling error… “But what if you ant to advertise on YouTube for less?” I ant to advertise!

14. jischinger - August 4, 2008

These prices are amazing, the average wage for most Americans is $43k a year. What kind of clicks and results does this advertising afford?

15. Marilyn - August 4, 2008

NutCheese:
I’ve given up trying to correct Kevin’s typos and misspellings. There are just too many. Now I get my thrill when others find them as well. You just made my day; I am so proud of you!

MDJ: I thought we were done with cheese videos. I think they may have jumped the shark. We need a new subject to make artsy videos of - like Twinkies or something.

16. sukatra - August 4, 2008

No big “community” videos spawned from this website until I’m back from my “vacation” July 14. Then it’s twinkies, twinkies twinkies. or whatever.

17. xjasongarciax - August 4, 2008

Kevin, is it me or have you stopped monetizing many of your videos? I notice them only every now and then. Or maybe I’m too fixated on watching your creation. I notice them right away on other videos! :o)

18. jischinger - August 4, 2008

I’ve got a video project idea - don’t do it yet, just think about it and keep your eyes open. Find something to film, but don’t say what it is, only film a part of the thing so people have to guess. No hints no give aways. This is a lot harder than it sounds so don’t sit there and say “that idea sucks!”

We’ll figure out all the rules later (around the15th) and post them in the Forum so sukatra doesn’t spas out.

The film will also have to be at least 30 seconds long so Kevin can monetize his this time and think about being creative with music and such and don’t even consider using a filters to mask it. In the end someone will rip all the film and artistically make one or two videos with the answers or something like that. All winners will get a life time of free air, quality not guaranteed.

Caps on eyes open!

got an idea for a WVFF Readers video project thing?

I meant august 14, not july 14. And I don’t understand jan’s idea, but I’m trying like hell not to spaz out. You mean film a small portion of some object from close range so that it’s unidentifiable?

20. Marilyn - August 4, 2008

Yeah, I think that’s what Jan is saying. We actually did something like this at my school last year. Film something really close-up or only a portion of it so it is not readily identifiable. Then have every try to guess what the object is.

And I figure you meant August, since July 15th is long past.

And they said that youtube wouldn’t generate any revenue. You know they don’t you?
