Of course, I got lucky with mine. It's an older version with the lifetime TiVo subscription (which they don't even offer any more) that I got on eBay for less than the cost of the lifetime subscription. Of course, I'll never be able to get a new one, because I'm too cheap to pay $12.95 a month or whatever it is for a TiVo subscription these days. I don't even have cable. But, like I said before, I only watch what I want, when I want. With no commercials. It's wonderful. I LOVE my DVR. Of course, I got lucky with mine. I like lounging on my couch while I watch the tube I also don't have a DVR. I know. Neanderthal. I also never read anymore. I watch what I want, when I want, for the most part. Although my husband abuses it by constantly rewinding, I find a DVR much more useful than a VCR. Haven't used my VCR in ages. However, I USED to read and watch TV at the same time. I still read, but not as much. Online video (and this blog) seem to have taken the place of most of my reading. I don't really think that's a good thing. But once you get sucked in, it's hard to wean yourself off the online video teat.
