Anxiously Awaiting Chumby

chubby for chumby

Here’s my Chumby‘s path so far. He can hardly wait to meet me. I hope he’s not to cold in Anchorage. You can track him too. And Sukatra is lying below about the credit card problem, although that did happen with the Mac Book Pro I tried to buy last week. This was my consolation prize.

I’m going to see if I can stream audio of Mother Angelika, Walden Pond and Wayne Dyer over it. They’ve been teaching me about being present, and not worrying about possessions, constantly “doing” stuff, and the perceptions of others. There’s a simplicity that comes with not caring about material things, and I’m going to learn all about it on my, Chumby. Oh, wait.

Cool, you ordered one? I’ve had one for a couple of months now myself. I don’t know if its really worth the $180 price tag, but I do like the Chumby. I wake up to podcasts every day and on weekends I use it for a picture frame to display flickr pictures. Other then that there are a ton of other widgets that are fun to play with for a while. Hope you enjoy it :)

I’m retired (on a modest pension which includes health care). I have no credit card debts. No mortgage payments. No rent payments. No college loans. Never filed bankruptcy. Have a place to live near the beach when my mom’s house burns down (guaranteed). Nya nya nya nya nya nya.

I’ve been eyeing it too… but only when they make it without leather.

How is this different from a macbook?

My macbook does everything Chumby does..

Nalts you amaze me..You are a self proclaimed marketing guru but have no skills to not be marketed to. :)

Marketers are horrible victims of stuff like this. We can dish it out but we can’t take it. LOVE the “credit card over limit” note. BTW- Marquis… I’ve been reading Walden Pond lately, and profoundly impacted by it. Maybe I can stream a “book on tape” version via the Chumby. Now there’s irony.

Oh my, that looks like someone took scraps from their grandads old tan leather slip-on house shoe, fastened snap-on metals claps and Elmer’s glued it to the side of a $5 Walmart special alarm clock!

I predict an iphone type return in the near future.

:o )

That’s pretty cool. I was a bit more interested in Nabaztag/tag for awhile, but then I realized I have nobody I care enough for to give the other one to :(

Urgo’s had a chumby for a few months? Aren’t you supposed to call a doctor after a few hours?

11 Urgo June 8, 2008 at 10:32 am

Haha funny Peter ;)

Chumby looks Dumby.

Ah hahahaha. I crack myself up.

I’m so gonna be shaking the dust off this thing and chucking it in the junk drawer in a month.

Nalts reading Walden Pond. Now there’s a video I’d like to see.

MDJ: I’m with you. I own my home (due in part, sadly, to money received when my mother died; I’d rather have my mom back, frankly), I pay off my credit cards in full each month (it’s really easy; you just don’t buy anything), we have 4 cars in the family and own all of them (no loans), and I have money in the bank. How do I do this? I DON’T BUY STUFF I DON’T NEED.

15 marquisdejolie June 8, 2008 at 6:24 pm

Ahyup, Marilyn. Usury is evil. If I can’t pay cash for it, I don’t need it.

I am the only one whose first thought was ‘WTF is a chumby’?

17 marquisdejolie June 8, 2008 at 9:56 pm

Kevin or Brian or whatever his name is this week has blogged about it here before.
:)

18 Matt June 8, 2008 at 11:07 pm

Great, now i’m actually supposed to read the posts and follow the links? This is getting to be too much like work.

19 Urgo June 8, 2008 at 11:16 pm

Matt, you’re fired.

And to all you haters out there, yeah its not really worth $180, but its still fun & useful :)
