NBC Considers Releasing Saturday Night Live Rehearsal Video… on Friday Via Web

cowebell.jpgIs NBC beginning to understand and embrace the vehicle it once squashed? It’s considering providing video moments of SNL rehearsals via the web. Brilliant.

Says The Daily Reel:

The very idea that rehearsals could be deemed as funny — or even funnier — than the actual production speaks not only to our changing predilection for raw, first-person media experiences, but also to the studios’ ability to monetize every aspect of a production experience. You can credit both of these trends to the confluence of so-called “reality programming” with the intimate nature of DIY web video, which is eclipsing the distance between viewer and producer, and to the low cost of digital distribution.
